Dr. Amnon Buxboim is the head of the Laboratory for Mechanobiology at the Grass Center for Bioengineering. Buxboim is a graduate of the Hebrew University where he also did his MSc in Quantum Solid-State Physics. Following an outstanding PhD at the Weizmann Institute Science he moved to University of Pennsylvania for his postdoctoral training. His research broke new grounds in understand the role that mechanical forces play in human development. Buxboim is a recipient of a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant. Although still at the early stages of his career, Buxboim is already internationally recognized for his contributions in the field of stem cell and nucleus mechanobiology.
