Dr. Tsevi Beatus is the head of the Micro-Flight laboratory at the Grass Center for Bioengineering. He is a cum laude graduate of the Hebrew University program in Physics and Computer Science; did his PhD in physics at the Weizmann Institute of Science completed his postdoctoral training in the physics department at Cornell University. Beatus is the recipient of Weizmann’s Dean Award of excellence and theHuman Frontier Cross-Disciplinary fellowship, and is an Azrieli Foundation Faculty Fellow. His PhD research unraveled new phenomena in the collective dynamics of micro-droplets and his postdoctoral work revealed important elements of insect flight control. At the Hebrew University, Dr. Beatus’ Micro-Flight Laboratory focuses in understanding the mechanisms of insect flight and on implementing these mechanisms in biomimetic flying robots.
