Ori Katz is the head of the Advanced Imaging Lab at the Department of Applied Physics, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research is focused on developing novel optical- and ultrasound-based techniques that will allow to look deeper and with higher resolution through complex samples. This is an important goal in many fields, ranging from imaging through dense fog, peering deeper inside our body, and also looking ‘around corners'. The challenge lies in the strong scattering light and ultrasound waves in such samples, limiting the penetration depth of even the most advanced conventional imaging techniques.
Ori obtained his PhD in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot (2012), and performed his post-doctoral research at Institut Langevin (ESPCI) and Labpratoire Kastler Brossel (ENS) in Paris.
